Jay Z Just Got A Big Apology From The Marina Abramovic Institute

Jay Z Just Got A Big Apology From The Marina Abramovic Institute

  Jay Z'sfound some vindication

On Monday, famed artist Mariana Abramovic claimed Jay Z ''completely used'' her for his “Picasso Baby” video. She said Jigga didn’t make an agreed-upon donation to her institute in exchange for her appearance in the vid, which was inspired by her 2010 “The Artist Is Present” performance. However, it seems she was mistaken.
Yesterday evening, the Marina Abramovic Institute apologized to Jay Z and Abramovic with an official statement, according to The New York Times.
“Marina Abramovic was not informed of Shawn ’Jay Z’ Carter’s donation from two years ago when she recently did an interview with Spike Magazine in Brazil,” the statement said. “We are sincerely sorry to both Marina Abramovic and Shawn ’Jay Z’ Carter for this, and since then we have taken to appropriate actions to reconcile this matter.”
This follows Wednesday’s Artnet report. They interviewed Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn of Salon 94, an art dealer and a “Picasso Baby” producer. Rohatyn read a receipt to ArtNet that expressed gratitude to Jay. “Thank you for your donation,” the receipt reportedly said.
Jay Z is fresh off his back-to-back “B-Sides” concerts, which took place this past weekend. At the shows, Jigga freestyled about current events. Tidal and his competition. He also reunited part of his Roc-A-Fella family and paid respects to fallen rapper Chinex.
