David Mark Attacked At Buhari's Inauguration

David Mark Attacked At Buhari's Inauguration

Several days after the solemn inauguration, the Senate president David Mark narrated how he had been attacked at the ceremony.

Mark disclosed on June 2 that unidentified hoodlums had assaulted him at the Eagle Square on May 29.
He made the information known yesterday during one of the Senate sessions:
“Sometimes the followers go overboard either out of excitement or whatever reasons. I also ran into a group of hooligans when I was entering the Eagle Square and they damaged my (car’s) windscreen.”
Speaking further Mark urged President Muhammadu Buhari to address the problems of Nigerians and thanked the immediate past leader of the country.
“For the first time in the history of the country the presidential election is not before any tribunal.
“It is not just enough to congratulate President Buhari. I think we should also congratulate the former president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, who willingly conceded defeat and followed the announcement with a telephone call to President Buhari.”
Although the inauguration ceremony ended a long time ago, some unusual facts continue to emerge in connection with the event.
The situation tagged as “Sahara Reporters Vs Robert Mugabe” broke when a correspondent was accused by the Zimbabwean authorities of disrespecting President Mugabe at the inauguration.
The saga is not over. Sahara Reporters has now posted a photo of President Mugabe from the May 29 occasion. The image, which depicts the country’s leader sleeping at the swearing-in of Nigeria’s president-elect, went viral immediately.
